Deciding what to do next?
For the last few weeks, my boyfriend and I have been diligently searching through Trusted House Sitters in search of our next adventure. Do we chill in Thailand for a month, cat sit in Tokyo… or maybe even venture over to South Korea?
Honestly, we have yet to decide – but hopefully we’ll be making a decision soon.
In the meantime we have been looking after Tian Tian, our friends delightful Corgi who I can honestly say is too cute for his own good. He has been the biggest of distractions, demanding constant playtime and cuddles … we just can’t say no.
Since his arrival our personal projects have taken a serious dip in productivity! Which is making me wonder… will I be able to travel the world petsitting, yet still have the discipline to write each day?
Keeping Myself Accountable
As it stands, I have two main writing projects on the go. My MG Fantasy and a more saucy, New Adult Romance.
Since my procrastination has reached a whole new level, I decided to make covers for my books over on Canva. Despite the hour I spent creating them – they have been a huge inspiration and well worth the time and effort involved. Whenever I don’t feel like writing, I just look at the cover and boom – inspiration hits.
Otherwise despite Tian Tian’s demands for attention – and the sudden 34 degree heat and its accompanying mosquitoes – I am trying to write a little each day.
Having an ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER really helps too. Every Wednesday my critique partner and I swap chapters… and if we fail to provide, there is much shouting, guilting and outright disappoint voiced from the other. Plus the withholding of imaginary cakes and sparkles!
My other-half is also prone to withholding kisses until my day’s word count is met – a cruel but most effective technique!
Otherwise generating an PASSIVE INCOME is one of my biggest goals this year. Even if its only a small amount each month, a little can go a long way when backpacking around Asia.
Currently I’m experimenting with two things. Creating and selling worksheets to help other ESL teachers over at Teachers Pay Teachers. And I’m in the process of creating an UDEMY video course – again using my knowledge as an ESL teacher to help prepare people for life abroad.
I’m curious – do any of you have experience with these platforms? And if so any tips?
